CECC confirms 89 more COVID-19 cases, including 88 indigenous cases and 1 imported case


On June 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 89 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 89 new cases, 88 are indigenous and the other one is imported. The CECC also announced nine deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 88 indigenous cases, 48 are men and the other 40 are women, aged between under 5 to 99 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between June 10 and June 26, 2021. Regarding those indigenous cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 41, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 33. Tainan City reported 8 cases; Taoyuan City reported 3 cases, and Pingtung, Nantou County and Hsinchu City reported 1 each.

Regarding the nine deaths announced today, they were three men and six women between 40 and 99 years old.

Regarding the new imported case, Case #14719 is a Taiwanese male in his 20s. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 in Austria on May 3. He returned to Taiwan from Austria on June 11, and quarantined at a quarantine hotel after arrival. He was tested for COVID-19 on June 24, before the end of his quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on June 27.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,266,904 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,250,863. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 14,634 cases. Of the 14,634 confirmed cases, 1,170 are imported; 13,411 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 102 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 632 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 632 deaths, 642 are indigenous cases and the other 8 are imported.
