CECC confirms 27,085 more COVID-19 cases, including 26,793 domestic cases and 292 imported cases


On February 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 27,085 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 27,085 new cases, 26,793 are domestic and 292 are imported. The CECC announced 74 deaths today.

Regarding the 26,793 new domestic cases, 12,043 are male and 14,727 are female, while the gender of the other 23 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,102 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,284 in Kaohsiung City, 3,177 in Taichung City, 3,001 in Taoyuan City, 2,409 in Taipei City, 2,224 in Tainan City, 1,331 in Changhua County, 814 in Hsinchu County, 680 in Miaoli County, 655 in Pingtung County, 581 in Yunlin County, 578 in Hsinchu City, 549 in Yilan County, 541 in Keelung City, 448 in Hualien County, 408 in Nantou County, 388 in Chiayi County, 235 in Chiayi City, 185 in Taitung County, 116 in Kinmen County, 74 in Penghu County, and 13 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 74 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 44 men and 30 women ranging in age from 60 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 292 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 25, 2022, and February 1, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,745,387 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,146,784. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,596,660 cases. Of the 9,596,660 confirmed cases, 49,056 are imported; 9,547,550 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,430 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,430 deaths, 16,409 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
