On February 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 31,801 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 31,801 new cases, 31,501 are domestic and 300 are imported. The CECC announced 48 deaths today.

Regarding the 31,501 new domestic cases, 14,135 are male and 17,347 are female, while the gender of the other 19 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 6,097 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,950 in Taichung City, 3,864 in Taoyuan City, 3,560 in Kaohsiung City, 2,843 in Taipei City, 2,495 in Tainan City, 1,380 in Changhua County, 1,048 in Hsinchu County, 824 in Miaoli County, 820 in Hsinchu City, 816 in Pingtung County, 663 in Yunlin County, 627 in Keelung City, 566 in Yilan County, 447 in Nantou County, 417 in Chiayi County, 412 in Hualien County, 263 in Chiayi City, 232 in Taitung County, 97 in Kinmen County, 75 in Penghu County, and five in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 48 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 33 men and 15 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 300 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 10, 2022, and January 31, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,710,526 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,139,449. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,569,611 cases. Of the 9,569,611 confirmed cases, 48,823 are imported; 9,520,734 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,356 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,356 deaths, 16,335 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
