1.13 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from Japan to arrive in Taiwan on afternoon of July 8

On July 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that the Japanese government would provide an additional 1.13 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Taiwan after it had offered a batch of 1.24 million doses of the vaccine to Taiwan on June 4. The second batch of vaccine doses provided by Japan will arrive at Taoyuan International Airport on the afternoon of July 8. The shipment of 1.13 million vaccine doses will be offered to individuals to be vaccinated under the national COVID-19 vaccination program after completion of the subsequent testing and lot release procedures.

The CECC hereby expresses its sincere gratitude to the government and people of Japan for providing another batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses to Taiwan, which can help increase Taiwan's vaccination coverage rate and help the country fight against the virus, during the tough times the country is facing in the pandemic and amid the global vaccine supply shortages.
