CECC confirms 12 more COVID-19 cases, including 11 domestic cases and 1 imported case


On July 31, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 12 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 12 new cases, 11 are domestic and the other one is imported. The CECC reported no deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 11 domestic cases (of whom, six tested positive while they were in home isolation or completed their isolation period), 5 are men and the other 6 are women, aged between under 20 to 69 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between July 23 and July 30, 2021. Regarding those domestic cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 6, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 4. Chiayi County reported 1 case.

Regarding the new imported case, Case #15780 is a Thai sailor in his 50s.The vessel he boarded arrived in Taiwan on July 25. When health units boarded the vessel for quarantine inspection, they found that he had a fever. He was then sent to the hospital for COVID-19 testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 31.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,043,204 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,026,126. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,674 cases. Of the 15,674 confirmed cases, 1,267 are imported; 14,354 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 108 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 787 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 787 deaths, 779 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
