CECC confirms 2 more imported COVID-19 cases; two cases arrive in Taiwan from the US and Indonesia


On January 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The two new cases arrived in Taiwan from the United States and Indonesia, respectively.

Case #866 is a Taiwanese woman in her 50s. She returned to Taiwan from the United States on January 17. Upon arrival, the woman voluntarily notified airport quarantine officers that she had come into contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases and experienced suspected symptoms in the United States. Her specimen was collected for testing at the airport. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 19.

Case #867 is an Indonesian man in his 20s. He traveled to Taiwan to work as a fisherman on January 5. During the quarantine period, the fisherman experienced coughing on January 18, and he was given a COVID-19 test on the same day. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 19.
