Sixth round of name-based rationing system for at-home COVID-19 rapid test kits and fourth round of free rapid test distribution program for children six or under and elderly people 65 and older to begin on October 1; people can purchase/collect test kits with their NHI cards

On September 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that both the sixth round of name-based rationing system for at-home rapid test kits and the fourth round of the program to provide a pack of five free rapid test kits to each child aged six or under (born on or after September 2, 2016) and elderly person (born in 1957 or earlier) will start on October 1, 2022.

The number of rapid tests an individual can buy has been increased from two packs (10 test kits) to six packs (30 test kits). People can buy up to six packs of rapid tests at a time or different times (without limit), and purchasing rapid tests on behalf of others is allowed. One pack (five rapid tests) is still priced at NT$500. People who need rapid tests and are eligible to get them can purchase/collect rapid test kits by presenting their NHI cards at NHI-contracted pharmacies or public health centers which sell rapid test kits under the name-based system.
