On February 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 45 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 45 new cases, five are domestic and 40 are imported (13 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced one death today.

Regarding the new domestic cases, they are two men and three women, aged between 20 and 49 years.

Regarding the 40 new imported cases, they are 25 men and 15 women, aged between under 10 and 79 years. 35 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (eight cases), India (three cases), Singapore (three cases), Australia (two cases), the Philippines (two cases), Vietnam (two cases), Japan (two cases), the UK, Spain, Algeria, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Brazil, and Argentina; the origins of the remaining five cases are being investigated.  They all arrived between January 5 and February 14, 2022.

The CECC also pointed out that the one death (Case #18138) announced today was an over 80-year-old Taiwanese woman with chronic disease.

Additionally, the imported case (Case #19592) announced on February 12 has been reclassified as a domestic case according to virus sequence information and an epidemiological investigation.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,019,159 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,998,996. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,666 cases. Of the 19,666 confirmed cases, 4,283 are imported; 15,329 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 130 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 852 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 852 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
