CECC confirms 15,440 more COVID-19 cases, including 15,173 domestic cases and 267 imported cases


On February 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 15,440 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 15,440 new cases, 15,173 are domestic and 267 are imported. The CECC announced 78 deaths today.

Regarding the 15,173 new domestic cases, 6,802 are male and 8,357 are female, while the gender of the other 14 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,819 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,929 in Taoyuan City, 1,811 in Taichung City, 1,777 in Kaohsiung City, 1,369 in Taipei City, 1,278 in Tainan City, 690 in Changhua County, 435 in Hsinchu County, 407 in Pingtung County, 364 in Miaoli County, 358 in Hsinchu City, 328 in Yunlin County, 319 in Yilan County, 279 in Keelung City, 235 in Nantou County, 219 in Chiayi County, 197 in Hualien County, 155 in Chiayi City, 119 in Taitung County, 45 in Kinmen County, 33 in Penghu County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 78 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 50 men and 28 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 267 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 17 and February 16, 2023.

The CECC data showed that there have been a cumulative total of 9,894,283 confirmed cases in Taiwan. There have been a cumulative total of 17,319 COVID-19 deaths since 2020.
