On September 10, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new case is a Taiwanese man in his 60s (Case #496). The man visited Indonesia for work in February. The case took the same flight to Taiwan as Case #492, but he did not sit in the two rows in front of or behind Case #492 on the flight. He returned to Taiwan by himself on September 4.

The CECC stated that the case showed no symptoms upon arrival in Taiwan and went to a quarantine hotel after entry. The case developed a fever and runny nose on the evening of September 7. After he notified health authorities of his symptoms, health authorities arranged his medical care and COVID-19 testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on September 10. The case is currently hospitalized in isolation ward for medical treatment. 

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 89,085 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 88,005. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 496 cases. Of 496 confirmed cases in Taiwan, 404 are imported; 55 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; and 1 case has unknown sources of infection. Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 475 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 14 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
