In response to widespread transmission of Delta variant globally, Taiwan to strengthen quarantine measures for flight crews after their return starting 00:00 on September 15

On September 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that it will adjust quarantine measures for flight crew members following their return to Taiwan on a rolling basis, which will take effect starting 00:00 on September 15, 2021 (time of arrival in Taiwan), as the global COVID-19 cases caused by the Delta variant continue to increase and a rising number of breakthrough infections among fully vaccinated people have been reported in other countries. Details about the strengthened quarantine measures are listed below.

1. Long-haul flights (crew members who have entered countries under Level 3 travel notice):
(1) Crew members who are not fully vaccinated: a 7-day quarantine (a negative PCR test result), a 7-day enhanced self-health management, and a PCR test on the 10th and 14th day (may collect a deep-throat saliva or nasopharyngeal swab specimen for testing);
(2) Crew members who are fully vaccinated (those who completed their vaccine series two weeks previously and tested positive for antibodies): a 5-day quarantine (a negative PCR test result), a 9-day enhanced self-health management, and a PCR test on the 9th and 14th day (may collect a deep-throat saliva or nasopharyngeal swab specimen for testing).
2. Short-haul flights (crew members who have not entered another area/country and have returned to Taiwan the same day):
(1) Crew members who are not fully vaccinated: a 14-day enhanced self-health management and PCR testing every 7 days (may collect a deep-throat saliva specimen for testing);
(2) Crew members who are fully vaccinated (those who completed their vaccine series two weeks previously and tested positive for antibodies): a 7-day regular self-health management and PCR testing every 7 days (may collect a deep-throat saliva specimen for testing).
