CECC confirms 23,746 more COVID-19 cases, including 23,349 domestic cases and 397 imported cases


On February 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 23,746 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 23,746 new cases, 23,349 are domestic and 397 are imported. The CECC announced 79 deaths today.

Regarding the 23,349 new domestic cases, 10,464 are male and 12,872 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,260 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,871 in Taichung City, 2,855 in Kaohsiung City, 2,608 in Taoyuan City, 2,050 in Taipei City, 1,874 in Tainan City, 1,261 in Changhua County, 767 in Hsinchu County, 595 in Pingtung County, 560 in Miaoli County, 549 in Hsinchu City, 521 in Yilan County, 463 in Keelung City, 454 in Hualien County, 440 in Yunlin County, 403 in Nantou County, 306 in Chiayi County, 187 in Chiayi City, 167 in Taitung County, 87 in Kinmen County, 64 in Penghu County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 79 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 47 men and 32 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 397 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 15, 2022, and February 3, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,809,911 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,162,085. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,645,862 cases. Of the 9,645,862 confirmed cases, 49,714 are imported; 9,596,094 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,614 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,614 deaths, 16,593 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
