CECC confirms 16,518 more COVID-19 cases, including 16,329 domestic cases and 189 imported cases


On January 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16,518 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 16,518 new cases, 16,329 are domestic and 189 are imported. The CECC announced 22 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,329 new domestic cases, 7,147 are male and 9,169 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,240 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,907 in Kaohsiung City, 1,815 in Taoyuan City, 1,742 in Taichung City, 1,640 in Taipei City, 1,327 in Tainan City, 857 in Changhua County, 510 in Hsinchu County, 420 in Miaoli County, 410 in Hsinchu City, 408 in Pingtung County, 380 in Yunlin County, 305 in Keelung City, 272 in Yilan County, 267 in Nantou County, 249 in Chiayi County, 184 in Hualien County, 165 in Chiayi City, 101 in Taitung County, 77 in Kinmen County, 52 in Penghu County, and one in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 22 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 13 men and nine women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 189 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 25, 2022, and January 24, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,475,596 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,088,927. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,384,996 cases. Of the 9,384,996 confirmed cases, 47,506 are imported; 9,337,436 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,168 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,168 deaths, 16,148 are from domestic cases and the other 20 are from imported cases.
