CECC confirms 44,534 more COVID-19 cases, including 44,467 domestic cases and 67 imported cases


On October 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 44,534 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 44,534 new cases, 44,467 are domestic and 67 are imported. The CECC announced 76 deaths today.

Regarding the 44,467 new domestic cases, 20,589 are male and 23,868 are female, while the gender of the other 10 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 8,826 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,375 in Taichung City, 4,879 in Taipei City, 4,630 in Taoyuan City, 4,520 in Kaohsiung City, 3,231 in Tainan City, 2,303 in Changhua County, 1,223 in Pingtung County, 1,180 in Hsinchu County, 1,155 in Miaoli County, 1,107 in Yunlin County, 1,082 in Yilan County, 960 in Hsinchu City, 834 in Keelung City, 765 in Chiayi County, 715 in Nantou County, 651 in Hualien County, 459 in Chiayi City, 295 in Taitung County, 148 in Penghu County, 109 in Kinmen County, and 20 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 76 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 39 men and 37 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 67 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 7 and October 7, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 18,310,153 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,480,412. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,826,989 cases. Of the 6,826,989 confirmed cases, 35,316 are imported; 6,791,619 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 11,465 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 11,465 deaths, 11,449 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
