Experts recommend COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for better protection

On November 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) pointed out that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) at the Ministry of Health and Welfare held an expert meeting on November 28 and gave recommendations for the use of a third dose in adults. The ACIP recommends that elderly people aged 65 and older, residents and staff in long-term care facilities, medical personnel, epidemic prevention and control staff, front-line workers at high risk of infection, and individuals at high risk of infection or with severe illnesses (i.e. the ninth priority group the government-funded COVID-19 vaccination program) should receive a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine six months after their second dose. Other individuals aged 18 and older can get a third dose to gain better protection after a physician's assessment and after evaluating their risk of infection and willingness to get vaccinated.
