On October 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.
Regarding the new imported case, Case #16447 is an over 30-year-old female from Indonesia. She arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia on October 2. She was tested for COVID-19 test on October 15 before the end of her quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on October 17.
The CECC reported that a total of 3,725,628 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,707,076. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,337 cases. Of the 16,337 confirmed cases, 1,699 are imported; 14,584 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 846 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 846 deaths, 834 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
