On May 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 94,855 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 94,855 new cases, 94,808 are domestic and 47 are imported (44 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 126 deaths today.
Regarding the 94,808 new domestic cases, 44,942 are male and 49,823 are female, while the gender of the other 43 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.
Of those domestic cases, 19,363 were reported in New Taipei City, 11,501 in Taichung City, 11,270 in Kaohsiung City, 10,074 in Taoyuan City, 9,503 in Taipei City, 7,376 in Tainan City, 4,240 in Changhua County, 2,765 in Pingtung County, 2,716 in Hsinchu County, 2,195 in Miaoli County, 2,147 in Hsinchu City, 2,043 in Keelung City, 1,779 in Yilan County, 1,749 in Hualien County, 1,713 in Yunlin County, 1,330 in Nantou County, 1,088 in Chiayi County, 932 in Taitung County, 651 in Chiayi City, 192 in Penghu County, 147 in Kinmen County, and 34 in Lienchiang County.
Regarding the 126 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 77 men and 49 women ranging in age from 10 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.
Regarding the 47 new imported cases, they were 28 men and 19 women ranging in age from under five to 59 years. The areas these cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 25 and 26, 2022.
The CECC reported that a total of 10,789,017 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,059,842. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1,735,067 cases. Of the 1,735,067 confirmed cases, 12,770 are imported; 1,722,243 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 1,784 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 1,784 deaths, 1,769 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
