On May 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 76,605 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 76,605 new cases, 76,539 are domestic and 66 are imported (37 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced 145 deaths today.

Regarding the 76,539 new domestic cases, 36,087 are male and 40,431 are female, while the gender of the other 21 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 14,848 were reported in New Taipei City, 9,563 in Kaohsiung City, 9,379 in Taoyuan City, 8,959 in Taichung City, 7,402 in Taipei City, 5,913 in Tainan City, 3,882 in Changhua County, 2,554 in Pingtung County, 1,976 in Hsinchu County, 1,699 in Hsinchu City, 1,667 in Miaoli County, 1,558 in Yilan County, 1,216 in Keelung City, 1,112 in Hualien County, 1,059 in Yunlin County, 999 in Nantou County, 955 in Chiayi County, 858 in Taitung County, 527 in Chiayi City, 204 in Penghu County, 179 in Kinmen County, and 30 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 145 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 81 men and 64 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 66 new imported cases, they were 34 men and 32 women ranging in age from 10 to 79 years. Of the cases, three arrived from the US, and one each from Japan, Singapore, and Vietnam; the areas the remaining 60 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between May 27 and 28, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 10,991,648 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,096,696. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1,892,272 cases. Of the 1,892,272 confirmed cases, 12,882 are imported; 1,879,336 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 2,056 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 2,056 deaths, 2,041 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
