CECC confirms 64 more COVID-19 cases, including 2 domestic cases and 62 imported cases


On March 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 64 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 64 new cases, two are domestic and 62 are imported (23 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the new domestic cases, they are one man and one woman, aged between 30 and 49 years.

Regarding the 62 new imported cases, they are 33 men and 29 women, aged between under five and 69 years. Of the cases, six arrived from Vietnam, four each from the US, India, and the Philippines, three each from Indonesia and Cambodia, two each from Hong Kong, Australia, and Japan, and one each from Argentina, Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, the UK, and Canada; the areas the remaining 27 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between January 19 and March 3, 2022.

Additionally, the imported Case #20016, Case #20110, and Case #20256 have been reclassified as domestic cases according to virus sequence information and epidemiological investigations.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,396,050 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,375,084. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 20,717 cases. Of the 20,717 confirmed cases, 5,212 are imported; 15,451 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
