On March 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced six new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those six new cases arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines (Cases #1000-1002), the United States (Case #1003), Paraguay (Case #1004), and Indonesia (Case #1005).

The CECC pointed out that Case #1000 is an over 30-year-old male from the Philippines. The Filipino man traveled to Taiwan for work on February 28. He didn't experience any symptoms during his quarantine period. During the self-health management period, he took a self-paid COVID-19 test arranged by the company he worked for. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 19.

Case #1001 and Case #1002 are two female migrant workers from the Philippines, and Case #1001 is in her 20s while Case #1002 is in her 30s. The two migrant workers visited Taiwan for work on March 4. On March 17, they were tested for COVID-19 before completing their quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on March 19.

Case #1003 is an American woman in her 50s. The American woman was diagnosed with COVID-19 in the United States on January 14. She traveled to Taiwan for work on February 7. She hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. As she planned to go back to the United States, she visited the hospital and took a self-paid test on March 17. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 19.

Case #1004 is an over 20-year-old male from Paraguay. The Paraguayan man was diagnosed with COVID-19 in his home country on January 16. He took a flight from Paraguay, transiting through Brazil and Dubai, to Taiwan on March 4. He entered Taiwan on March 5. He was tested for COVID-19 on March 6, and the test result came back negative. Before completing the quarantine period, he was tested again on March 18, and he tested positive. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 19. The Paraguayan man didn't show any symptoms upon arrival.

Case #1005 is an over 20-year-old man from Indonesia. The Indonesian man came to Taiwan to work as a fisherman on March 5. Before completing the quarantine period, he was tested for COVID-19 on March 18. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 19.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 183,386 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 181,364. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1004 cases. Of the 1004 confirmed cases, 888 are imported; 77 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 10 deaths, and 959 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 35 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
