CECC confirms 83,027 more COVID-19 cases, including 82,973 domestic cases and 54 imported cases


On June 7, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 83,027 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 83,027 new cases, 82,973 are domestic and 54 are imported. The CECC announced 124 deaths today.

Regarding the 82,973 new domestic cases, 39,854 are male and 43,090 are female, while the gender of the other 29 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years.

Of those domestic cases, 12,572 were reported in Kaohsiung City, 12,498 in Taichung City, 11,504 in New Taipei City, 7,487 in Tainan City, 6,630 in Taoyuan City, 5,824 in Taipei City, 5,784 in Changhua County, 3,459 in Pingtung County, 1,983 in Miaoli County, 1,905 in Nantou County, 1,892 in Yunlin County, 1,753 in Hsinchu County, 1,579 in Yilan County, 1,557 in Chiayi County, 1,493 in Hsinchu City, 1,427 in Hualien County, 1,156 in Keelung City, 1,097 in Chiayi City, 859 in Taitung County, 307 in Penghu County, 200 in Kinmen County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 124 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 67 men and 57 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 54 new imported cases, they were 29 men and 25 women ranging in age from under 10 to 69 years. Of the cases, five arrived from the US, three from the UK, and one each from Singapore and Malaysia. The areas the remaining 44 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between June 5 and 6, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 11,795,491 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 9,252,303. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 2,540,871 cases. Of the 2,540,871 confirmed cases, 13,246 are imported; 2,527,571 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 3,214 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 3,214 deaths, 3,199 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
