CECC confirms 1 more imported COVID-19 case; case travels to Mexico for work and contracts coronavirus


On May 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Case #441 is an over 30-year-old male who visited Mexico for work in the second half of January and returned to Taiwan on May 20. The case had a fever, mild coughing and diarrhea when working in Mexico. He voluntarily reported his symptoms to quarantine officers at the airport when arriving in Taiwan on May 20. After the quarantine officers collected his specimen for testing, he was transported to a group quarantine facility. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 21. The case is currently hospitalized for medical treatment in isolation.
