On January 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 48 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 48 cases, 15 are domestic and 33 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are five men and ten women, aged between under 10 and 79 years.

Regarding the 33 new imported cases, they are 19 men and 14 women, aged between 20 and 79 years. 19 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (nine cases), the UAE (two cases), Singapore (two cases), Japan, China, Australia, Vietnam, Mexico, and the Netherlands; while the areas where the other 14 arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between January 9 and January 28, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,640,594 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,621,502. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,681 cases. Of the 18,681 confirmed cases, 3,593 are imported; 15,034 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 127 cases (one newly added; removed after testing negative the second time) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
