CECC confirms 33,431 more COVID-19 cases, including 33,377 domestic cases and 54 imported cases


On October 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 33,431 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 33,431 new cases, 33,377 are domestic and 54 are imported. The CECC announced 38 deaths today.

Regarding the 33,377 new domestic cases, 15,597 are male and 17,766 are female, while the gender of the other 14 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 6,782 were reported in New Taipei City, 4,308 in Taichung City, 3,901 in Taoyuan City, 3,585 in Taipei City, 3,120 in Kaohsiung City, 2,190 in Tainan City, 1,739 in Changhua County, 1,058 in Hsinchu County, 902 in Miaoli County, 797 in Pingtung County, 747 in Hsinchu City, 717 in Yunlin County, 705 in Yilan County, 568 in Nantou County, 504 in Keelung City, 498 in Hualien County, 494 in Chiayi County, 295 in Chiayi City, 201 in Taitung County, 131 in Penghu County, 116 in Kinmen County, and 19 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 38 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 22 men and 16 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 54 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 2 and October 14, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 18,006,185 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,422,280. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,581,117 cases. Of the 6,581,117 confirmed cases, 35,024 are imported; 6,546,039 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 11,201 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 11,201 deaths, 11,185 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
