CECC confirms 13 more imported COVID-19 cases


On December 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 13 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 13 new imported cases, they are eight men and five women, aged between 10 to 69 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (10 cases), Dominican, Russia, and Ukraine. They arrived between December 7 and December 22.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,829,258 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,810,401. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,853 cases. Of the 16,853 confirmed cases, 2,200 are imported; 14,599 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 850 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 850 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
