CECC confirms 19,965 more COVID-19 cases, including 19,753 domestic cases and 212 imported cases


On August 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 19,965 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 19,965 new cases, 19,753 are domestic and 212 are imported. The CECC announced 51 deaths today.

Regarding the 19,753 new domestic cases, 9,155 are male and 10,592 are female, while the gender of the other six cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,664 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,331 in Taichung City, 2,172 in Taipei City, 2,162 in Taoyuan City, 1,894 in Kaohsiung City, 1,448 in Tainan City, 867 in Changhua County, 621 in Hsinchu County, 575 in Miaoli County, 573 in Pingtung County, 558 in Yunlin County, 452 in Hsinchu City, 438 in Yilan County, 382 in Chiayi County, 326 in Nantou County, 319 in Keelung City, 288 in Hualien County, 226 in Chiayi City, 202 in Taitung County, 133 in Penghu County, 115 in Kinmen County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 51 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 32 men and 19 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 212 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 7 and August 5, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,084,435 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,360,146. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,716,819 cases. Of the 4,716,819 confirmed cases, 21,481 are imported; 4,695,284 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,187 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,187 deaths, 9,172 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
