Media report details concerning a foreign national testing positive for COVID-19 after departure from Taiwan are false; CECC urges public not to spread false information


Regarding the news report of "A Danish national testing positive for COVID-19 after his departure from Taiwan", the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) explains that the confirmed case (hereinafter, Case #874) is a Danish man in his 30s and is hospitalized in an isolation ward in Taiwan because he tested positive on January 20. Case #874 traveled to Taiwan for official business on December 30, 2020. He hasn’t developed any symptoms since arrival. Case #874 completed his quarantine period on January 14, 2021. As he had planned to leave Taiwan, Case #874 visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on January 20, and he tested positive (the Ct value was 30). He is currently hospitalized in a hospital isolation ward for treatment. The case is classified as an imported case. The CECC points out that details mentioned in the news report about the Danish national testing positive in Thailand after departure from Taiwan is false information; the CECC urges the media and the public not to spread the information.
