On October 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 44,628 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 44,628 new cases, 44,601 are domestic and 27 are imported. The CECC announced 42 deaths today.

Regarding the 44,601 new domestic cases, 20,411 are male and 24,177 are female, while the gender of the other 13 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 8,590 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,867 in Taichung City, 5,142 in Kaohsiung City, 4,545 in Taoyuan City, 4,315 in Taipei City, 3,742 in Tainan City, 2,369 in Changhua County, 1,452 in Pingtung County, 1,033 in Yunlin County, 1,000 in Hsinchu City, 988 in Miaoli County, 986 in Hsinchu County, 783 in Yilan County, 740 in Nantou County, 732 in Chiayi County, 695 in Keelung City, 519 in Chiayi City, 484 in Hualien County, 278 in Taitung County, 170 in Kinmen County, 151 in Penghu County, and 20 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 41 deaths from domestic cases one death from an imported case announced today, they were 21 men and 21 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 27 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 20 and October 17, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 18,872,415 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,567,472. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 7,302,188 cases. Of the 7,302,188 confirmed cases, 35,856 are imported; 7,266,278 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 12,036 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 12,036 deaths, 12,019 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
