On February 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16,640 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 16,640 new cases, 16,391 are domestic and 249 are imported. The CECC announced 63 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,391 new domestic cases, 7,483 are male and 8,886 are female, while the gender of the other 22 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,136 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,125 in Taoyuan City, 1,990 in Kaohsiung City, 1,921 in Taichung City, 1,333 in Taipei City, 1,242 in Tainan City, 838 in Changhua County, 566 in Hsinchu County, 486 in Miaoli County, 428 in Pingtung County, 414 in Hsinchu City, 314 in Keelung City, 291 in Nantou County, 291 in Yunlin County, 275 in Yilan County, 210 in Chiayi County, 200 in Hualien County, 128 in Chiayi City, 79 in Taitung County, 65 in Kinmen County, 53 in Penghu County, and six in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 63 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 33 men and 30 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 249 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 6 and February 5, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,862,627 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,175,390. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,685,484 cases. Of the 9,685,484 confirmed cases, 50,268 are imported; 9,635,162 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,750 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,750 deaths, 16,729 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
