CECC confirms 1 more imported COVID-19 case; Taiwanese man found to have COVID-19 after returning from France


On February 11, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new case, Case #937, is a Taiwanese man in his 20s. He arrived in Taiwan from France.

The Taiwanese man returned to Taiwan from France on January 29. During the home quarantine period, he began to experience coughing, a runny nose, nausea, and vomiting on February 9. The health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 11.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 167,004 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 163,987. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 936 cases. Of the 936 confirmed cases, 820 are imported; 77 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 9 deaths, and 859 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 68 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
