On March 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced seven new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those seven new cases arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia (Cases #1015-1019), the United States (Case #1020), and the Philippines (Case #1021).

Cases #1015-1019 are five Indonesian men in their 20s. Those Indonesian men came to Taiwan to work as fishermen on March 4. Before completing the quarantine period, they were tested for COVID-19 on March 17, and the test results all came back negative. After completing the quarantine period, they visited the hospital to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on March 24 for work requirements. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on March 27 (they had a CT value of between 27 and 36, and they all tested positive for antibodies). Those five fishermen didn't experience any symptoms during the time period.

Case #1020 is an over 40-year-old male from the United States. The American man came to Taiwan for work on March 9. He completed his quarantine period on March 24. Due to work requirements, he went to a hospital to take a self-paid test on March 25. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 27 (the CT value was 30, and he tested positive for antibodies). He didn't experience any symptoms during the time period.

Case #1021 is an over 30-year-old male migrant worker from the Philippines. The Filipino migrant worker traveled to Taiwan for work on March 13. Before completing the quarantine period, he was tested for COVID-19 on March 26. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on March 27. The migrant worker didn't experience any symptoms during the quarantine period.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 187,356 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 185,612. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1020 cases. Of the 1020 confirmed cases, 904 are imported; 77 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 10 deaths, and 978 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 32 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
