On August 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced seven new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the seven new cases, four are domestic and the other three are imported. The CECC reported three deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the four domestic cases (of whom, two tested positive while they were in home isolation or completed their isolation period), three are men and the other one is woman, aged between 20 to 59 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms on August 6, 2021. Regarding those domestic cases, Taipei City reported the most cases at 2, followed by New Taipei City and Taoyuan City with 1 case each.

Regarding the three deaths announced today, they were two men and one woman between 60 and 89 years old.

Regarding the three new imported cases, they are two men and one woman, aged between 20 to 39 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from Malaysia (Case #15884), Turkey (Case #15886) and the United States (Cases #15887), and they all arrived on August 6.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,208,224 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,191,057. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,782 cases. Of the 15,782 confirmed cases, 1,290 are imported; 14,439 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 108 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 809 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 809 deaths, 801 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
