On September 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The case arrived in Taiwan from the US. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the new imported case (Case #16123), the case is an American man in his 30s. He traveled to Taiwan from the US for work on September 1. He was tested for COVID-19 at the airport, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on September 4.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,779,364 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,761,367. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,013 cases. Of the 16,013 confirmed cases, 1,429 are imported; 14,531 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 837 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 837 deaths, 827 are from domestic cases and the other 10 are from imported cases.
