The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) pointed out that people who are vaccinated abroad with any COVID-19 vaccines approved under the WHO Emergency Use Listing (EUL), namely, AstraZeneca (AZ), Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT), Janssen, Sinopharm, and Sinovac, can have their overseas vaccination records updated in the National Immunization Information System (NIIS), and their doses will be considered valid ones. People who have completed their vaccine series do not need to receive additional doses, whereas those who have not completed their vaccine series should receive the subsequent dose of a vaccine approved in Taiwan according to the vaccination schedule and within the recommended interval.

The CECC reminded members of the public that though their records of receiving any vaccines with the EUL approval can be updated in the NIIS, such records will not be added to COVID-19 vaccination certificates (including the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, COVID-19 Vaccination Record, and Digital COVID-19 Certificate, which is being established.) Therefore, overseas vaccination records or certificates should still be properly preserved.

Furthermore, people who are vaccinated with any COVID-19 vaccines not approved under the WHO EUL, whether fully vaccinated or not, are considered unvaccinated individuals, and are recommended to be vaccinated with a vaccine approved for use in Taiwan at least 28 days after the last dose of a COVID-19 vaccine they receive abroad.
