CECC confirms 15,123 more COVID-19 cases, including 15,034 domestic cases and 89 imported cases


On December 18, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 15,123 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 15,123 new cases, 15,034 are domestic and 89 are imported. The CECC announced 30 deaths today.

Regarding the 15,034 new domestic cases, 6,854 are male and 8,173 are female, while the gender of the other seven cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,938 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,868 in Taichung City, 1,774 in Taoyuan City, 1,656 in Kaohsiung City, 1,625 in Taipei City, 1,153 in Tainan City, 671 in Changhua County, 527 in Hsinchu County, 492 in Hsinchu City, 333 in Pingtung County, 327 in Miaoli County, 306 in Yunlin County, 229 in Chiayi County, 222 in Yilan County, 211 in Keelung City, 206 in Nantou County, 161 in Hualien County, 139 in Chiayi City, 83 in Taitung County, 82 in Kinmen County, and 31 in Penghu County.

Regarding the 30 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 19 men and 11 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 89 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 17 and December 17, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,448,649 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,869,684. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,578,053 cases. Of the 8,578,053 confirmed cases, 38,854 are imported; 8,539,145 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,890 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,890 deaths, 14,873 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
