CECC confirms 7 more COVID-19 cases, including 3 domestic cases and 4 imported cases


On August 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced seven new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the seven new cases, three are domestic and the other four are imported. The CECC reported two deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the three domestic cases (of whom, two tested positive while they in home isolation or completed their isolation period), one is male and the other two are female, aged between 30 to 69 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms on August 12. Of those domestic cases, two cases were reported in New Taipei City and one case was reported in Taipei City.

Regarding the two deaths announced today, they were an over 50-year-old male and an over 90-year-old female. Both had chronic diseases.

Regarding the four new imported cases, they are two men and two women, aged between 20 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines (Case #15950), Russia (Case #15951), Indonesia (Case #15952) and Vietnam (Case #15953), and they arrived between July 30 and August 13.

The CECC reported that a total of 2,330,539 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 2,312,858. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,843 cases. Of the 15,843 confirmed cases, 1,323 are imported; 14,467 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 821 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 821 deaths, 813 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
