CECC confirms 3 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from South Africa and the US


On January 24, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Among those three new cases, one (Case #886) arrived in Taiwan from South Africa, and two (Case #887 and Case #888) arrived from the United States.

Case #886 is a Taiwanese man in his 40s. The man returned to Taiwan from South Africa on January 7. After completing the quarantine period, he took a self-paid COVID-19 test on January 22. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 24.

Case #887 is a Taiwanese woman in her 50s. The woman returned to Taiwan from the United States on January 20. She experienced a fever, muscle pains, and fatigue on January 22. The health authority then arranged for her to seek medical attention and undergo testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 24.

Case #888 is an American man in his 30s. The American man came to Taiwan on January 19. He experienced a fever and headache on January 22. The health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 24.
