CECC confirms 20,412 more COVID-19 cases, including 20,149 domestic cases and 263 imported cases


On January 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 20,412 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 20,412 new cases, 20,149 are domestic and 263 are imported. The CECC announced 47 (including one imported case) deaths today.

Regarding the 20,149 new domestic cases, 9,113 are male and 11,027 are female, while the gender of the other nine cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,306 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,448 in Taichung City, 2,229 in Kaohsiung City, 2,223 in Taoyuan City, 2,222 in Taipei City, 1,609 in Tainan City, 851 in Changhua County, 611 in Hsinchu County, 513 in Hsinchu City, 496 in Miaoli County, 451 in Pingtung County, 367 in Keelung City, 364 in Yunlin County, 310 in Chiayi County, 309 in Nantou County, 306 in Yilan County, 169 in Chiayi City, 143 in Hualien County, 90 in Kinmen County, 88 in Taitung County, and 44 in Penghu County.

Regarding the 46 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 29 men and 17 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 263 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 14, 2022, and January 13, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,205,347 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,014,194. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,188,207 cases. Of the 9,188,207 confirmed cases, 44,790 are imported; 9,143,363 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,802 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,802 deaths, 15,782 are from domestic cases and the other 20 are from imported cases.
