On June 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 341 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 341 new cases, 339 are indigenous and the other two are imported. Furthermore, the CECC reported 133 retroactively added cases; a total of 474 cases were recorded. The CECC also announced 21 deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 339 indigenous cases, 170 are men and the other 169 are women ranging in ages from under 5 to over 100 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between April 1 and June 3, 2021. Of the 133 retroactively added cases, 57 are men and the other 76 are women ranging in ages from under 5 to 89 years old. They suffered the onset of symptoms between May 18 and June 2.

The CECC pointed out that a total of 472 indigenous cases, including 339 newly confirmed cases and 133 retroactively added cases, were reported today. Regarding those indigenous cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 227, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 152. Miaoli County reported 51; Taoyuan City reported 11 cases; Taichung City and Keelung City reported 7 each; Changhua County reported 6; Hsinchu City and Nantou County reported 2 each; Hualien County, Yilan County, Hsinchu County, Pingtung County, Kaohsiung City, Chiayi County and Yulin County reported 1 each.

Regarding the 21 deaths announced today, they were 14 men and seven women between 30 and 99 years old.

Regarding the two new imported cases, Case #10211 is an over 30-year-old male from Vietnam. He traveled to Taiwan from Indonesia for work on May 18. He was tested for COVID-19 on June 2 at the end of the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on June 4.

Case #10470 is an over 40-year-old male from Indonesia. He traveled to Taiwan for work on May 14. After completing the quarantine period on May 29, he underwent a self-paid test arranged by the company he worked for. The test result came back negative. He visited the hospital to take another self-paid test on June 3. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on June 4.

The CECC reported that a total of 606,921 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 585,272. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 10,446 cases. Of the 10,446 confirmed cases, 1,145 are imported; 9,248 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and 26 cases (Case #9199 and Case #9868 are newly added) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. Of the confirmed cases, there have been 187 deaths.
