On October 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed imported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new case is a Filipino migrant worker in his 30s (Case #531). The case entered Taiwan on September 17. He hasn't developed any symptoms since arrival.

The CECC reported that the result for the test Case #531 had taken within three days of boarding was negative, and he also tested negative after undergoing a test upon arrival and another test on October 10, before the end of the group quarantine period. On October 12, he took a COVID-19 test at his own expense. Because the test result came back weak positive, the case was admitted to a hospital and placed in isolation for treatment the same day. The case was given another test on October 13. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on October 15 (the CT value for the test was 31, and he tested negative for IgM but positive for IgG antibodies).  

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 97,766 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 96,604. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 531 cases. Of the 531 confirmed cases, 439 are imported; 55 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; and 1 case has unknown sources of infection. Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 491 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 33 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
