CECC confirms 16 more imported COVID-19 cases


On December 10, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 16 new imported cases, they are nine men and seven women, aged between 10 to 69 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the United Arab Emirates, the US (three cases), Vietnam (four cases), Ghana, China, Indonesia (two cases), Eswatini, Thailand, and the Philippines (two cases). They arrived between November 25 and December 8.

The CECC reported that a total of 4,615,676 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 4,597,765. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,721 cases. Of the 16,721 confirmed cases, 2,076 are imported; 14,591 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 111 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 848 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 848 deaths, 836 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
