CECC confirms 5 more imported COVID-19 cases


On October 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced five new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. All those cases are imported. The CECC announced one death today.

Regarding the five new imported cases, they are four men and one woman, aged between 20 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from Indonesia (three cases), Belize, and the US. They arrived between September 20 and October 2.

The CECC pointed out that the one death (Case #15920) announced today was an over 70-year-old male with chronic disease.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,460,241 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,442,726. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,255 cases. Of the 16,250 confirmed cases, 1,620 are imported; 14,581 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 844 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 844 deaths, 832 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
