CECC confirms 19,144 more COVID-19 cases, including 18,934 domestic cases and 210 imported cases


On January 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 19,144 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 19,144 new cases, 18,934 are domestic and 210 are imported. The CECC announced 21 deaths today.

Regarding the 18,934 new domestic cases, 8,243 are male and 10,680 are female, while the gender of the other 11 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,624 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,357 in Kaohsiung City, 2,306 in Taichung City, 2,080 in Taoyuan City, 1,947 in Taipei City, 1,580 in Tainan City, 838 in Changhua County, 564 in Hsinchu County, 436 in Pingtung County, 426 in Hsinchu City, 410 in Miaoli County, 401 in Yunlin County, 396 in Keelung City, 361 in Yilan County, 273 in Nantou County, 272 in Chiayi County, 233 in Hualien County, 175 in Chiayi City, 115 in Kinmen County, 98 in Taitung County, 41 in Penghu County, and one in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 21 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 13 men and eight women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 210 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 26, 2022, and January 25, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,501,720 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,095,590. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,404,138 cases. Of the 9,404,138 confirmed cases, 47,638 are imported; 9,356,446 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,189 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,189 deaths, 16,169 are from domestic cases and the other 20 are from imported cases.
