CECC confirms 1 more domestic COVID-19 case; CECC launches epidemiological investigation and epidemic prevention measures


On December 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed domestic case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new domestic case is a Taiwanese woman in her 20s, who worked at the Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica. She had not traveled abroad recently and received two doses of Moderna. The woman was exposed to the pathogen at work in mid-November and didn't experience any symptoms at that time. She developed a mild cough on November 26, and her cough intensified on December 4. She then experienced an abnormal sense of smell and taste on December 8. She sought medical attention and was tested. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 9.
