On April 18, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. A total of 398 cases have been confirmed in Taiwan as of writing. Cases #396-398 are three men in their 20s who received training on a naval ship in Taiwan. The three cases boarded the naval vessel on February 21. The vessel carried 337 navy personnel, including the three cases, and docked in Palau from March 12 to March 15. The naval ship remained at sea for nearly 30 days before docking at a naval base in Taiwan on April 15. 

Case #396 had a headache and changed sense of smell. He sought medical help after disembarkation on April 15, and sought medical care again on April 17. Case #397 developed symptoms including upper respiratory tract infections, headache, runny nose, coughing and abnormal sense of smell at the beginning of April. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 18. Case #398 began to experience problems with his sense of smell and taste on April 13. He went to a hospital for medical care and was tested for COVID-19 in the hospital on April 17. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 18.
