CECC confirms 65 more COVID-19 cases, including 14 domestic cases and 51 imported cases


On January 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 65 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 65 new cases, 14 are domestic and 51 are imported. The CECC announced one death today.

The CECC pointed out that the new domestic cases are three men and 11 women. They are between under 10 and 69 years old.

Regarding the 51 new imported cases, 17 are male and 28 are female while the gender of the other six cases is being investigated. They are between under five and 79 years old. 48 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (28 cases), Vietnam (three cases), France (two cases, Australia (two cases), the Philippines (two cases), the UK (two cases), the UAE, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Indonesia, Germany, Bangladesh, Denmark, India, and Italy; the countries where the remaining three cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between December 29, 2021, and January 12, 2022.

The CECC also pointed out that the one death (Case #16906) announced today was an over 50-year-old Taiwanese male with chronic disease.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,187,725 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,168,285. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 17,624 cases. Of the 17,624 confirmed cases, 2,905 are imported; 14,665 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 114 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
