CECC confirms 12 more imported COVID-19 cases


On October 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 12 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. All those cases are imported. The CECC announced one death today.

Regarding the 12 new imported cases, they are seven men and five women, aged between 10 to 60 years old. 11 of them arrived in Taiwan from the US (two cases), Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar (four cases), the UK, Japan, and Indonesia, while where the remaining one traveled from is being investigated. They arrived between September 13 and October 6.

Regarding the one death (Case #14970) announced today, the case was an over 40-year-old female with chronic disease.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,551,518 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,534,092. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,283 cases. Of the 16,283 confirmed cases, 1,648 are imported; 14,581 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 845 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 845 deaths, 833 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
