On September 24, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 38,371 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 38,371 new cases, 38,157 are domestic and 214 are imported. The CECC announced 51 deaths today.

Regarding the 38,157 new domestic cases, 17,596 are male and 20,541 are female, while the gender of the other 20 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 7,844 were reported in New Taipei City, 4,742 in Taichung City, 4,368 in Taipei City, 4,152 in Taoyuan City, 3,441 in Kaohsiung City, 2,250 in Tainan City, 1,920 in Changhua County, 1,062 in Hsinchu County, 987 in Hsinchu City, 962 in Pingtung County, 922 in Yunlin County, 904 in Miaoli County, 900 in Yilan County, 777 in Nantou County, 684 in Keelung City, 682 in Chiayi County, 534 in Hualien County, 441 in Chiayi City, 307 in Taitung County, 142 in Kinmen County, 118 in Penghu County, and 18 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 51 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 29 men and 22 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 214 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between August 24 and September 23, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 17,512,069 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,293,915. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,211,093 cases. Of the 6,211,093 confirmed cases, 33,569 are imported; 6,177,470 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 10,794 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 10,794 deaths, 10,778 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
