CECC confirms 43,510 more COVID-19 cases, including 43,478 domestic cases and 32 imported cases


On October 15, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 43,510 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 43,510 new cases, 43,478 are domestic and 32 are imported. The CECC announced 77 deaths today.

Regarding the 43,478 new domestic cases, 19,639 are male and 23,828 are female, while the gender of the other 11 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 8,324 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,486 in Taichung City, 4,661 in Kaohsiung City, 4,475 in Taoyuan City, 4,301 in Taipei City, 3,437 in Tainan City, 2,294 in Changhua County, 1,443 in Pingtung County, 1,103 in Hsinchu County, 1,086 in Yunlin County, 1,060 in Miaoli County, 961 in Hsinchu City, 823 in Yilan County, 750 in Chiayi County, 742 in Nantou County, 711 in Keelung City, 584 in Hualien County, 533 in Chiayi City, 351 in Taitung County, 172 in Kinmen County, 162 in Penghu County, and 19 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 77 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 48 men and 29 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 32 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 14 and October 9, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 18,688,801 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,543,637. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 7,142,418 cases. Of the 7,142,418 confirmed cases, 35,703 are imported; 7,106,661 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 11,843 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 11,843 deaths, 11,827 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
