CECC confirms 17,199 more COVID-19 cases, including 16,902 domestic cases and 297 imported cases


On February 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 17,199 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 17,199 new cases, 16,902 are domestic and 297 are imported. The CECC announced 57 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,902 new domestic cases, 7,586 are male and 9,305 are female, while the gender of the other 11 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,179 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,996 in Taichung City, 1,982 in Kaohsiung City, 1,859 in Taoyuan City, 1,516 in Tainan City, 1,513 in Taipei City, 796 in Changhua County, 513 in Hsinchu County, 455 in Pingtung County, 438 in Yilan County, 427 in Yunlin County, 425 in Hsinchu City, 236 in Miaoli County, 356 in Keelung City, 267 in Chiayi County, 236 in Nantou County, 218 in Hualien County, 153 in Chiayi City, 102 in Taitung County, 61 in Kinmen County, 45 in Penghu County, and six in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 57 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 35 men and 22 women ranging in age from 20 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 297 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 12 and February 11, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 22,024,546 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,214,520. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,809,098 cases. Of the 9,809,098 confirmed cases, 51,938 are imported; 9,757,106 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 17,103 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 117,103 deaths, 17,082 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
